In his introduction of this book, here is some description about himself:

『My own experiences are included. I served as radioman for General Maxwell D. Taylor, the division commander, and parachuted from his plan. Throughout the war I kept a daily log of my actions on onion-skin paper from the backs of Signal Corps message books.
